What You Need to Know About Impact Windows

Protect your family and home when you replace your traditional windows with impact windows today. Impact windows are strong and durable, and prevent strong winds and intruders from coming into your house.

You’ll also notice energy savings when you replace your windows with impact windows. Impact windows are well insulated and keep the cool air in your home during the hot summer months, and the warmer air in your home during the cooler winter months.

Learn everything you need to know about impact windows here.

Impact-resistant windows are made up of heavy-duty frames and impact-resistant laminated glass. A special silicone glazing process is used to keep the glass from breaking away from the frame. The impact-resistant glass is made up of two panes of glass bonded together with a special interlayer of clear polyvinyl butyral.

Impact windows are similar to car windshields, except they’re three times stronger. Because of the two bonded panes and special interlayer, even a 2 x 4 traveling at 50 feet per second would not break the window. Although debris and intruders may crack the window, the window won’t actually break.

Our laminated impact-resistant glass at HPA meets rigorous industry codes, including the American Society of Testing Materials standard for preventing forced entry (ASTM F1233) and the burglary resistant guidelines issued by Underwriters Laboratories (UL 972).

Impact windows also have a locking mechanism that makes it impossible to access from the exterior of your home. That means intruders and forced entry won’t happen.

The vinyl sash frames of impact windows also make it impossible for forced entry to happen. The frames have multiple chambers and are reinforced with rigid metal reinforcement to provide structural integrity.

Here at HPA we have three different types of impact windows for you to choose from. They are:
